Day Trips in South Africa
Bestberg Travel offers guided day tours to small groups or individuals in Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula and Western Cape. Below are some tours we are excited to offer you, but if what interests you is not listed, please contact us and perhaps we can add it to the list.

City walks
Cape Town is built on a small peninsula at the southern tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Established in the 17th century as a refreshment post for trade ships travelling between Europe and the Far East, it is today the most famous tourist attraction in the country. Dutch, English and Cape Malay influences provide a unique cosmopolitan atmosphere. The city lies at the foot of the famous Table Mountain and has numerous historical buildings.
During our tours you can learn more about the original population, the various settlers, the slave trade, the apartheid policy, migration from other parts of Africa, and their effect on the Cape Town of today.
Nature walks
Table Mountain, the famous landmark of Cape Town, is situated in a large integrated nature reserve (Table Mountain National Park) where you can walk and hike around for days. The mountainous landscape has a rich flora and offers stunning views over Cape Town and the Peninsula as far away as Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point.
We arrange walks graded by duration and difficulty level in accordance with your preferences.
Wine tasting & gourmet tours
In the 17th century Dutch settlers planted the first vines in the Cape. Today there are nearly 600 wine producers in South Africa. The Western Cape alone has nine different wine regions. Most wine farms offer the opportunity for wine tasting and cellar visits.
The South African cuisine is characterized by many culinary traditions (Indian, Malay and Mediterranean) which has resulted in a great diversity in restaurants.
Places like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are well known for their quality wines and the many excellent restaurants, often linked to a wine farm. Franschhoek is known as the 'gourmet capital' of South Africa.
In our wine tasting tours, a lunch or dinner can be included – guided by your taste and budget!
Historically interesting towns near Cape Town
Cape Town is called the Mother City of South Africa. In the 17th and 18th centuries the settlers moved further into the interior and new settlements grew into villages, towns and cities. In many of these places you find your self transported back into the past, giving you an experience of a very big open air museum. Depending on whether the Dutch or British ruled at the time you will find 'Cape Dutch', Victorian, or Georgian architecture.
We can arrange tours to one or more of these destinations and take you back in time.
